Pod Installation

Materials:

• Pods - .100” thick, 5052 aluminum
• Wire or rod – use 4043 for best results

Directions:

• Take the pod and hold it up to the stern of the boat and align the bottom edges. Make sure the flair of the pod is not wider than the outside of your boat. It is not necessary that the angles match-up exactly on the sides; just make sure that no part of the pod extends beyond the side of the boat (i.e. water should pass by smoothly).
• Hold pods up to the transom and take a marker and trace around the pods. This will give you a line to follow when grinding off the paint (in preparation for welding)
• Hold the pod up to the back of the boat where it is to be welded on. The most important thing to note is that the pod is not tipped down it is welded on. They must be flush with the bottom of the boat and tipped up ½” at the end of the pod (See Picture)

• Once in position, use your welder to tack the pod in four places. Next, make one continuous weld around the entire pod. Make sure to leave the plugs out when welding. Also, if the transom material is thinner than the pod material, be careful not to apply too much heat; it will warp the transom. Use the stitch-weld method.
